Bob is widely recognized to be one of the finest trial lawyers in the region. He has broad litigation experience in state and federal courts, including a number of multi-million dollar jury verdicts in both venues. Recently in the span of 60 days, he had three separate cases involving over $12 million in judgments or verdicts rendered and/or affirmed.
Bob regularly tries jury and non-jury cases ranging from major business and construction disputes to lawsuits involving environmental pollution, condemnation, personal injury, and labor-related suits including handicap, sexual harassment and race discrimination.
He received congressional appointments to the Air Force Academy and to West Point Military Academy, choosing the Air Force. He spent six years as an Air Force Survival Instructor. An honors graduate of Gonzaga School of Law, he has taught at local Spokane colleges including Gonzaga University Law School, and regularly gives trial practice seminars to other lawyers.
He is a former WSBA Bar Examiner. Named annually as one of the Best Lawyers in America in the area of Commercial Litigation, he is AV rated and a member of the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association. He was voted in 2005 by his peers as Spokane’s Best Business Litigator as well as Spokane’s Best General Litigator and in 2006 as Spokane’s Best Construction Lawyer, along with his partner John Black, and once again as Spokane’s Best General Litigator. In 2007, he was again named as Spokane’s Best Lawyer in Business Litigation, as well as in Construction Law and was featured as one of 2007’s Best Lawyers. He was also named as one of Washington’s “Super Lawyers” as a business litigator for 2006 and 2007. He was highlighted in a profile by his Alma Mater. (The Lawyer, Spring 2005 – Gonzaga School of Law.) He was a featured speaker at the Washington State Trial Lawyer’s 2007, Annual Convention.
Bob is an accomplished freelance outdoor writer, is one of two people in Washington State holding a NSCA Level II Certification as a Sporting Clays Shotgun Shooting Instructor, and as a Certified Youth Coach. He has won several State Sporting Clays Championships in both Washington and Idaho as a competitor.
